liteCam Editor's Review
'liteCam' is a screen recorder which allows you to capture videos from your screen. There are a lot of options to be configured in order to obtain the desired recording result. Unfortunately you have to make some of the settings each time you record something even if that settings are not so important. It's important to specify the size of the recorded window or the number of frames per second, but settings like audio settings or used codecs are not so commonly modified so I don't see the point of making this settings each time you want to record something. You loose precious time among nearly useless settings.
While testing the program, after making all those settings I mentioned above, I discovered that if the hardware acceleration was set to 'automatic' the program will work but it will record only the sound and no image. In the next try I turned off the hardware acceleration and retried to record a video file played in Windows Media Player. As the first time the everything seemed to be OK. With my fingers crossed I pressed the play button waiting to see the result of the recording. This time, along with the sound, it was also the image but the image and the sound where not synchronized and it was odd to hear a sound and after a second or two, to see the action which produced that sound. If this wasn't enough, the image was played mirrored upside down.
The user interface uncovers a lack of interest for the details. The first setting when you open the program is the 'Srating Point:'. In my opinion that should be 'Starting Point'. I didn't want to sound like a spellchecker but when you launch a program I think that the user interface is one of the most important parts of a program and you should pay attention to the few words which are written there.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: It didn't work as expected. The result was disappointing. While recording a video file played in the Windows Media Player the sound was delayed from the picture and when the video part stopped the sound was far from over.
In conclusion: I look forward for the next version hopping it will be improved.
